Imagine you are at home getting impatient that the food you ordered is taking too long. You do everything to track the delivery guy and backtrack the exact time your order went out. Imagine your relief when the delivery guy knocks on your door.
Just when you thought it's time to eat and your wait is over, you open your order and receive a disappointment. Your order is either missing something or is smaller than it should be.
Could it be the fault of the restaurant, or maybe the delivery guy?
An elevator surveillance camera video surfaced on social media where a delivery boy was caught eating the food of his customer. He can be seen slurping from the soup of the customer and immediately putting the cover back before the elevator comes to a stop.
This disgusting act is unacceptable. This resulted in the man getting fired for eating the food that was supposedly for the customers.
The public relations officer for Meituan in Southern China confirmed that the delivery indeed was eating the food for customers. The guy is now fired and banned from other food companies in China.
“So far, we have already fired the employee and notified the whole food delivery industry,” said Xu. “He would be banned from the business,”
The customer was compensated and the company has taken responsibility for the action.
Apparently, this is not the first time that a delivery guy is caught eating food that was supposedly for customers. Last year, an employee was caught pissing on the food after drinking the soup.
“We offer our sincerest apologies. We will then strengthen the discipline and training of food delivery men in all delivery spots around the nation, and promote the proper sealing of delivery food.”
