In the past, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy has been a hot topic on social media several times for some of his unsavory opinions about certain controversial topics. Yet in spite of this, the 68-year-old Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader has never received much backlash until he commented about the victory of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
Millions of Filipinos all over the world rejoiced when Catriona Gray bagged the Miss Universe title during the grand coronation night in Bangkok, Thailand. Although many people were happy for the 24-year-old beauty queen’s success, very few claim the victory for themselves.
One of those people is Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, who seemed to relish on Catriona Gray’s Miss Universe win. According to a report published in Rabashika Rabakanda News, the 68-year-old pastor proclaimed that he’s responsible for Catriona’s victory. He made this bold claim in front of the hundred followers of their church.
During his preach, the Davao-based pastor seemed to take credit for Catriona’s victory all on hiw own. In addition to that, he claimed that it is his will that led to Catriona’s win:
“Hindi totoo na nagkataon lamang na siya ay Miss Universe at ako ang God of the Universe. Kalooban ko na mangyari na siya ang manalo. May direct hand ako diyan. Dahil sa akin na God of the Universe kaya nanalo si Catriona #Quibcat.”
Quiboloy’s statement angered many fans because in saying that, the Pastor has undermined Catriona’s years of training and dedication to be a beauty queen. On the other hand, Catriona or her team has yet to comment about this issue.
